How can you roll over rows of info in Excel?

I have worksheets that I have to roll the info from this year to the next row
as "last year" info.
Can this be done any other way than by copying and pasting?
I'm using Excel 2000

you may provide some more details about your spreadsheet layout

It is a basic spreadsheet showing received, sales and inventory this year
compared to last year. So every year "this year" becomes "last year". It is
extremely time consuming to have to copy and paste every row.
Is there a way to automatically have all rows roll down or move down one
row? I don't know how to write a macro for it.
