How change default file on opening Projects?

When I first open MS Projects, it opens to an empty/blank file called
"Project1". Then I open the project file that I want to work with. When
I'm finished with my project, save and try to exit, I am prompted if I want
to save "Project1".

I tried changing the Target in Properties of the shortcut, but it would not
accept my file path.

How can I open MS Projects and NOT bring up "Project1", and just let me open
the file that I want to open?

Go to tools menu / options / general tab and you can set it to reopen the
last file worked on. I'm not sure you can get it to open no file.
