How come I can't see the graphics I paste into word from paint?

I'm trying to create a tutorial document for end users. I screen print the
view I need and paste it into paint. I crop exactly what I need from the
image and copy and paste into Word but all I see is the frame. Why?

From the Tools menu, select Options and go to the View tab and uncheck the
"Picture placeholders" item.
