How do I actually link Excel to MSP2003?

In the Nursing Staff demo from the June 2006 MPA Ezine they use an Excel file
with data about individual nurses that fed into the MSP ... Clear sofar, but
how do I set up this Excel so that the MSP actually reads from it (and vice
versa)?

Hi Edwin,

You can import Excel data by opening the Excel file in MS Project. The
import wizard will start and then you can map the columns from the Excel
workbook into Project fields.

You *can* link individual cells from an Excel workbook into individual
values in Project through a copy > paste link command. **However** this
method fragile and is prone to corruption

I'm sorry I haven't seen the Nursing Staff demo, so I can't address
specifically what was shown, but in most cases that I am familiar with,
the import from Excel into Project is done once to populate the Project
file and then the data is maintained and updated in Project.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
