What are the steps to adding a footnote in a word document?

Howdy,

Just click View | Header & Footer.

Word with then insert both, and you can do what you want with either,
or both of 'em.

Eek! That's not a footnote. A footer is something completely different,
though perhaps that's what you want. For a footnote, use Insert |
Reference.

Footnotes are used to cite sources, footers are used to repeat text on every
page (e.g. Page X of Y)

Though this kinda sounded like a homework question in the first place.
