I created a .dot file template in Microsoft Word 2004, and I wanted to be
able to add additional pages whenever I opened up the .dot file. How do I go
about creating this?

G'Day CK,

I am not sure that I understand the question.

You create a Template by creating a new document (with
as many pages as you like) and SaveAs with file type
Word Template (*.dot).

You modify a Template by opening (file type Template),
adding more pages as you like and Save.

The only other thing I can think of is a (say) Business Letter
Template where you want the Address (in the header) only
on the first page.

Create a new 2-page document (i.e. with a page break at the
bottom of page 1), with a Different First Page Header and
Footer (using Page Setup on the Header & Footer Toolbar)

Populate the First Page with the letter outline and your
Address/Phone/Fax/email etc etc in its Header & Footer.

Set up the Second page Header/Footer as you like (page
number or whatever) and close the Header & Footer.

Now remove (i.e. DELETE) the Page break, and SaveAs
a Template.

When you create a new Business Letter you will get a single
page document that, IF YOU NEED TO, will go to a multi-
page document with different Header/Footer on pp2 onward.

I don't understand your question. To use a template, one creates a new
document based on the template. You add pages by typing in more information
until you are on another page. If your template is set up for data entry
with questions and spaces for answers, you might want to look into AutoText.

If you simply want your first page to be different from subsequent pages,
take a look at: How to set up letterhead or some other document where you
want one header on the first page and a different header on other pages.

instructions.
