I have a list of names that I need alphabetized by their last names not their
first names. I have tried various different options, and none of them seem
to be working. Any suggestions?

what you can do is to
transfer that listing to
excel.

then in excel use a
couple of formulas for
managing cell text data.

you will be able to
separate two words of
one cell into two
additional cells.

then you can alphabetize
accordingly.

afterwards you can either
transfer the sorted data
back into word or save
and maintain that excel
spreadsheet then use it
as a table for word when
use utilizing the data and
fields merging feature.

you can look up how to's
inside of excel help or at
microsoft.com office website
or ask someone who is
familiar with excel.

And what Office module might this "list" be in? Word? Excel? Access?

In what program? Word, Outlook Excel Access etc.

Got any names with middle initials, that could cause problems.

All things are possible, but we need to know more about what tools you
have available.

What do you need as a final product? (Like a printed list) Do you need
to be able to sort by other than last name. Have you considered what will
happen in six months when for some reason you will need to sort by middle
name or address? (It will happen).
