How do I automatically code documents as printed and dispatched.

When I print documents I need to automatically print a unique code on each
document. This would tell me when I'm looking back at the electronic copy
that it was printed on such and such a date. It could be a bar-code or some
other kind of code. But I want the unique code to be saved automatically to
the document.

You could put a print date field in the footer of the document.
