How do I automatically send message in OUtlook 2000

When I hit send , message stays in outbox until I go to outbox and send again
and hit send/receive....How do I set up to automatically send when I hit send
button.

tools/ options/mail tabs are different on this laptop than on my
desktop..corrected same issue on that version of outlook without a problem
