How do I center text in cells vertically in Word?

I have a table in Word 2003 that has cells with rectangles matching with
descriptions to the left. The cells are two lines and there are 4 cells with
one word that I can't get centered in the cell (not left to right, but top to
bottom). I know how to do this in Excel, I can't seem to figure it out in
Word. Help.

Turn on the "Tables and Borders" toolbar (View/Toolbars) and you'll
find the Cell Alignment command with various flavors of both
horizontal and vertical alignment.
