I am creating a newsletter for my business and the boss wants to use 8-1/2 x
14 papers. How do I customize a template to and make it like a book where you
staple it in the middle? Help!!!

File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper. Use this dialog to set your paper
size.

There are templates that use a Booklet fold by default.

I tried this, but what happen is the Publisher template is too big for the
page! One would think if you select a different size the template would
auto-fit. Any suggestions would be most helpful!

What version Publisher are you using? Select your template, go to printer setup,
select legal, Publisher should give you a message about resizing.

I am running 2002. I have tried this too Mary. When I select "legal" the
template is then turned the wrong way, and is too small! What I am trying to
do is create a Newsletter on 8-1/2 x 14 paper (legal size). I have tried
selecting "custom" and "booklet", and it still does not turn out right. I am
wondering if I just select as I have and then adjust the templet to fit the
page? It just seems like there would be an easier way! I am open to any
suggestions! Thank you both who have responed so far, I appreciate the
thought very much!!!

The booklet option will give you a smaller newsletter, is that what you want?
Publisher will adjust to this as well. It is the same method, select the
template, select the paper size in the printer, select booklet. You will get the
message as before.

Yes, I do want a smaller version of the larger template. As I said though
when I select everything as you did, the template does not adjust it's self
to the selection. Does this mean it has, it just doesn't appear to be so?
When I tried printing the selection, it is very small and not proportionate

Lace,
I have tried to duplicate your problem. Publisher will create a booklet from a
template, landscaped on legal paper without an issue.
Look in your printer properties, see if you have a setting that is interfering
with sizing.
It is a printer issue.
