How do I create a custom Date Format in Word?

I would like to create a custom Date Format in Word.
Word will prompt me with being able to automatically insert 1.26.2006, but
i'd prefer to have it prompt me to automatically add 1.26.06. Any way to add
XX.XX.XX as a date format??????

How would this work in a Word Document? I'm not in a table, so there is no
"Function" box to put \@ "m.dd.yy" in.
When I'm in Word and it "prompts" me to finish my date as XX.XX.XXXX, I
think it's some type of Auto Text feature. Am I making sense?

As far as I know there is no way to customize the date Autotexts; the
formats are built into Word and not taken from any settings on your machine.

Thanks Tony! Now, at least, I can quit beating my head against the wall
thinking there MUST be a way to do this.
