You can enable the option if you choose File > Properties, click the
Summary tab, select "Save preview picture", and click OK. However, it
might not be a good idea to select this option, since it increases the
file size, not only for the template, but also for any document
created from that template.
I don't have Windows XP to test, but as far as I know the operating
system should make no difference (in this area). Did you really choose
File>Properties *in Word*?
You are strongly advised to clear the "Save preview picture" box in the
document properties of any document you create based on the template, as
saving a preview greatly increases the file size.
1. Create a new document
2. Insert a Word table
3. Change the border style for all cells to a dashed border
4. Save the file
5. Check the file size
6. Turn on "Save Preview picture"
7. Make a modification in the document and save the file again
8. Check the file size
For example a 25 KB document balloons to 313KB once a preview picture
is saved. This is only one scenario I can think of right now but there
are many others.
