footer numbering

I have a problem with page number in Word 2003. I restarted the numbering
for Heading 1 after number 13. I wanted the appendices to start renumbering,
this is working out the way I wanted, however, I must have linked the footer
to the previous one and cannot turn it off. Section breaks are all OK. When
I renumber Header 1 and go back to it in Format bullets and numbering, it
doesn’t stay in place, although the number beside the appendix does show 1.
All the rest are OK.

Word Heretic

G'day footsy,

This technique is flawed by definition and will fail every time.
Headings are a hard-coded major structural element of your document.
As a single set, any referencing code will only ever bother looking at
the first list template in use by the styles. It won't find the extra
list template you created by breaking the list.
