How do I delete subtasking in Project 2003?

So I have been working with Project 2003 for the past 3 days now, and I am
unable to edit my subtasking. I was given a job to rearrange, add, and
delete some lines of a Project document and as of now I am really frustrated
becuase every time I try to make a subtask on the same level as another task
for example the summary task above it It won't let me. I've read all the
help documents I can find and all they tell me to do is "outdent until they
are all at the same level", this doesn't work for me. Someone Please Help.

I assume you mean by "subtasking" you are referring to trying to
"indent" and/or "outdent" tasks in the hierarchy below the summary task.
Project's inability to do this in the original release of Project 2003
is well known. They quickly patched (few years ago) the flaw. Go the
Microsoft web site and download and install Service Pack SP2.

Oshtruck user,
First of all, do you have the latest update installed? For Project 2003,
it is SP2. If not, go the the Microsoft/Project website, download it and
install it. I recall there were some issues with outdenting that were
addressed by the update but I think they were related to master files
with inserted subprojects. Regardless, install the update if you don't
have it.

It would be a little easier to understand what you are experiencing if
you could give us a little more detail on the structure of your file and
then explain what you are trying to do. For example, a typical file
structure usually looks something like this:
Top level summary
Summary level A
Subtask 1
Subtask 2
Summary level B
Subtask 3
Subtask 4

etc.

Thanks both of you for your assistance. I am pretty sure it is that I need
the patch. I am waiting for My IS department to figure it out. I never
would have posted this question if Microsoft would have shown me the ones
posted below mine.

OshTruck user,
You're welcome. It is real easy to tell if you have the update
installed. With Project open, go to, Help/About Microsoft Project. If
SP2 is installed it will show up in the first line of the About window.
