How do I edit a photograph to cut half out?

I half a photgraph I have pasted into word, and I would like to cut someone
out of it, how would I go about cutting half of the picture?

If you look on the Picture Toolbar (click on View->Toolbars->Picture if you
can't see it displayed) you will see an icon that looks like two corners on
top of each other, this is the crop tool. Click on the picutre and then
click this icon and drag one of the side handles to cut your picture down to
size.
