How do I edit the content of text from a scanned item

I am working with 2003 Word. I have scanned a docuent of text htat I need to
add to and edit it.....Thanks for your interest....

You can try to use Office's OCR to convert the image into text. It won't be
perfect.
You'd have to decide how useful the resulting document is.

Choose Start - [All] Programs - Microsoft Office - Microsoft Office
Tools - Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Choose File - Open, navigate to
the .tif or .mdi version of the file and open it.

(If you don't have a .tif or .mdi version of the file, you'll need to
convert it. You can use MS Office Picture Manager to convert .jpg/.gif and
several other formats to .tif.)

From the menu, choose Tools - Send text to Word, OK, say OK to recognizing
text. In Word, if prompted, say OK to converting the file from HTML, click
OK. You'll now have Office's best guess as to what the text is.
