How do I export email adresses from excel to outlook?

When I am exporting a list of contacts from excel to outlook, everything
works except for the email addresses appear in outlook as a single letter
instead of the entire email address. I have tried turning off the hyperlink
in excel but this has not helped either. Any suggestions?
