How do I find a file that the shortcut is missing for?

R

Rachel

I "opened" a file from my email account (Microsoft Outlook Web Access - a
school server) and it put the file into word and allowed me to save it, but I
did not rename it. I closed out of the program. Then now that I try to go
back to the file, it is only a shortcut and says that the shortcut has been
moved and won't open the document. Any suggestions? Where did it save it
to, or it is completely gone?

The document was never permanently saved. You were working on it in a temp
folder, and it was deleted when you quit Word. Never open a file directly
from an email. Quite aside from the danger of macro viruses, you risk losing
your work. Always right-click and choose Save As to save the document to
your document folder, then open it in Word.
