How do I get Office XP back?

Mary

The other day, I had opened up Outlook & tried to import my contact list, but
instead had received a message saying, "Not implemented." I wasn't sure what
it was, so I tried to do a simpler task, like adding an appointment to my
calendar, but still received the same message. So after awhile, I had decided
to uninstall Office XP. But when I went into Add/Remove Programs, I realized
that Office 2003 was installed as well, so I uninstalled both programs.
Afterwards, I went into my Microsoft Works folder & reinstalled Works &
Office. But instead of Office XP, I now have Office 2003 installed. I don't
understand why this happened or where my Office XP installation programs have
gone. Please help me. I would greatly appreciate it.

Is this a new PC with a "Trial" copy of office 2003?
or did you download a trial copy?
What does it say, in any Office App, Help/About?

If you uninstalled OfficeXP you would have to reinstall using OfficeXP
installation cd's

Not sure what you mean by this;
"went into my Microsoft Works folder & reinstalled Works & Office."

This is a new PC, but it came w/ Office XP, not Office 2003. I don't know how
Office 2003 got installed into my computer (I think my sister may have
something to do w/ it).

As for your next question, I went into
Start / Programs / Microsoft Works / Re-install Works & Office
But instead of Office XP, Office 2003 got installed.

In any Office program, e.g. Word, what does it say in Help/About?
In particular does it says its Licenced?

If your PC came supplied with OfficeXP, and you dont have the Office cd's
you would need to contact your PC supplier for replacements.
However you would have difficulty trying to reinstal OfficeXP whilst
Office2003 is installed.
Do NOT uninstall Office2003 until you are sure you have OfficeXP cd's

I would also want to know what 'exactly' the shortcut
"Start / Programs / Microsoft Works / Re-install Works & Office" pointed to.
ie file name/size.

In your origonal post you mentioned Outlook, even if you have multiple
versions of Office, only a single version of Outlook can be installed.

my computer won't let me open any Office 2003 w/o a 25-digit key, which i
don't have because it originally came w/ Office XP.

the name of the Re-install Works & Office shortcut is "msworkst.exe" and the
size is 1.29KB.

You'll need to contact wherever you bought the PC to get the key.
Sound like it is an OEM version.

The Works & Office shortcut is the Microsoft Works process launcher.
This is not the same as Microsoft Office, allthough it may include Word

You need to discover how Microsoft Office 2003 got on your PC.
It sounds suspicially like a Trial version that was downloaded,
unless perhaps your sister installed it from someone elses cd's

If you have the OfficeXP cd's you will have to uninstall Office2003
before you install OfficeXP.
If you dont have the OfficeXP cd's you will have to contact your PC supplier
for the cd's
