How do I get totals off different worksheets on one?

I have 5 worksheets in my workbook, one being the main one with a graph that
summarizes the totals from the other sheets. How do I get so I don't have to
keep writing all the totals down from the other worksheets, and have the main
worksheet update immediately as I make a change to the other worksheets?

Hi
use a formula such as
=SUM('other_sheet'!A1:A100)

Hi Tanya, Provided that the other worksheets don't
change, you can simply refer to them on the Main
worksheet.
If your answer is on Sheet1!A20, you can simply have a
cell on your main worksheet say:
=Sheet1!A20. Whenever that cell changes, it will update
your reference cell on the Main sheet. If you're adding
rows, columns etc, then it becomes more difficult, but if
they don't change, this will be okay for you.

Kevin,

The other sheets are adding totals, and its those totals I want to have
change on the main sheet.

Thanks, Tanya

Tanya, if you're not summing them on the other sheet,
then you can do as Frank suggested above and use:
=SUM(Worksheet1!A1:A100)
This will add up all the cells in A on the other sheet
and give you your answer on the main sheet.

They are being summed on the other sheets, isn't it possible to take that
sum, and just have it go to the main sheet??

Thanks for your help Kevin and Frank!

Hi
the easiest way:
- select the target cell on your summary sheet
- enter the equation sign '='
- now select the source cell on your detail sheet
- hit ENTER
