How do I group an object line and a pasted screen dump

How do I group an object line and a pasted screen dump. I can only select one
or the other and the group select is grayed out.

Hold the shift key down when you click on the objects.
Have you set text wrappiing for the screendump?

....and is the line a *drawn* object or a Border of some sort?
