How do I import a pdf file (Image) into Publisher 2002?

We do a neighborhood newsletter. In the past all the ads were provided as jpg
files. The last ad we got was a pdf. I tried to do a save as in Adobe to jpg
or eps, but of course I lost the quality/clarity of the pdf. Any suggestions?

(I'm at work and don't have Publisher here so forgive me if my steps aren't
100% accurate.) I am able to insert a .pdf by using Insert - Object and then
I can select Adobe Acrobat document.

Another poster tried it and she got a low memory warning. Works quite nice
for me but, as always, YMMV.

This is a suggestion from Ed Bennett:

OK, try the following:

Step One: Download and install GhostScript from
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/
Step Two: Download and install GSView from the same location
Step Three: Open the PDF of your choice in GSView.
Step Four: Go to File > Convert
Step Five: Select "bmp16m" (not "bmp16")
Step Six: Select the page you wish to convert in the pane on the right, and
select "300dpi"
Step Seven: Click OK
Step Eight: Select a location to save your file, and a filename (make sure
it ends in .bmp).
Step Nine: Open the file in a graphics application (if you don't have one,
use Irfanview from http://www.irfanview.com) to crop the image to the area
that you want and to save it as a smaller file (I recommend PNG)
Step Ten: Import this image into Publisher.

I believe this only works with recent versions of Acrobat Pro (possibly
Standard, not Reader)

Otherwise you just get an icon for a PDF file.

Instructions I posted yesterday to a thread entitled "Import PDF image into
Publisher --PLEASE HELP" (which could have been found in a few seconds
rather than having to wait four hours for a reply to your post):

That's the problem with having certain software packages on your system. You
can never be certain what you can do that others can't.

Thanks for the input. I actually looked for this a few days ago and did not
see your post. I guess it helps to check daily on these sites. Sorry for the
duplicate post.
