How do I import contacts and maintain their categories?

I've been struggling for a couple of months to get completely off my old
Windows notebook running Outlook 2003. I purchased Office 2008 and am
attempting to import my address book from a vCard file. I used a 3rd party
utility to create a single file with all 1,200 of my contact entries. When
I drag that into Entourage's address book the import works correctly except
none of the categories are imported. Is there a way to have the categories
import correctly? They all seem to have been put in the notes field....

Paul Berkowitz's shareware Export-Import scripts saves categories.
