Hi,
PDF is not convertible with Publisher. What you can do is to convert your
document from PDF to Word then import to Publisher. Providing that you have
Adobe Acrobat, If it is graphic that you want to import into Publisher, then
select the graphic with the select image tool from the basic toolbar, select
your graphic and right click, then choose the save image as command.
Hope this help. Assia

No, it is not. Or at least, that is not a terribly recommended way.
Only Acrobat 6 (and maybe 5) and later support exporting as Word.
Using GhostScript (www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/) with GSView to convert the PDF
file to an EPS format graphic, then printing to a PDF file before printing
the final file in Adobe Reader will give a much more satisfactory result.

Your way will work, provided Acrobat will export the Word document nicely.
Two conversions gives far more room for error, especially when there is a
Word file intermediary.

I have converted PDF documents to Word format many times and I have no
problems. I absolutely do not need another software to do the work. I use
Acrobat 6.
You absolutely cannot convert documents to a PDF format using Adobe Reader,
it is a big mistake. Reader is made to read only. We cannot do any work
with it.
Are you the one who posted the original posted? If not then let the person

So what happens to the 300 dpi, CMYK image that is in Acrobat? Except
for a .gif file, a Word document would be my last choice of format.

Hi,
What I am telling is good is you have Adobe Acrobat preferable version 6.
You do not save in Word. It is just to copy and paste. You will save in
Publisher, then you will have the high resolution. If you want to save
graphics, all you do is to select your PDF graphic using the select image
tool on the basic toolbar (in PDF). Right click your graphic and choose "save
image as". Then insert your graphic in Publisher with your high resolution.
Or copy and paste from PDF to Publisher.

I'm glad you have no problems, but there are other alternatives depending
what it is you are trying to accomplish. In most circumstances converting
to a Word document is a very roundabout and unreliable route to get to a
Publisher file.

GhostScript, by the way, is free under the GNU Public License. So no paying
anyone.

I know that.

This is a newsgroup. One of the main aspects about newsgroups is that
anyone can reply to any post. I am free to reply to any post I want, as are
you. If I think that I can provide more detail or correct minor errors in
an answer, I will do so, as this may help the original poster. Often, the
original poster will read what is posted but not reply, so if it doesn't
work on the first suggestion and no-one else posts an embellishment or
further details, then they have no hope. Whereas if there has been a full
discussion among various posters about the best way, the original poster can
read the discussion and try all the suggestions and try what works for them.

The most important thing here is that everyone is willing to take advice as
well as give it.

I'm confused here. Earlier, you posted: "What you can do is to convert

going to convert a pdf to Word and keep a CMYK 300 dpi image? Will that
image in the Word doc suddenly become 300 dpi and CMYK when imported
into Publisher? Does Acro 6 rely on PhotoShop to open the image? V5
does, but I don't have 6 to check. What if the OP doesn't have Acrobat
or PS?
