How do I insert a text (not a task) to the entry screen?

I want to annotate my project plan by putting in text in the entry screen of
a gantt chart. I know I could do this with previous versions of MS Project
how come 2003 does not allow me.. or is there a way?

marcy5aus,
What exactly do you mean by "entry screen"? There is an Entry view table
that is normally associated with a Gantt Chart view. There is also a
separate Task Entry view and other "entry" views or view tables.

With regard to the Notes field, nothing has changed with Project 2003.
It may just be a matter of whether the Notes field is shown in whatever
view you are using. If it is not, just add it. Keep in mind though that
the Notes field when displayed in a view will truncate any text at 255
characters or the first line feed.

I am able to use a Text Box on the Gantt chart graphical area.
View/Toolbars/Drawing...

Select the text box and enjoy. For some reason this is not available in the
area where the task names are typed. I had similar trouble with an image
file.

Hi Jim,

That's because the Gantt chart is graphics presentation whereas the task
name part is a spreadsheet type of display. The Drawing tools only work on
the Gantt chart.
