I need to insert text into a word document (or excel) that is viewable by the
user, but does not show up when printed.

How can I do this?

You can highlight your text, click "Format", "Font", click the "Hidden"
attribute, then "OK". Click "Tools", "Options", click the "View" TAB and
make sure "Hidden text" is set to be visible (checked), then click the
"Print" TAB and make sure "Hidden text" is not selected to be included when
printed (shouldn't normally be).
