How do I limit the number of words allowed in a text box?

I am creating a form using MS Word. I need to create a field which stop a
user from inputting more than 35 characters. Can this be done?

If you use a form field from the Forms toolbar, yes. Just double-click to
see the Options and set the max number of characters.
