how do i link textboxes, step by step?

I have created two textboxes, on two separate pages and now I am trying to
link them. I clicked the pitcher shaped pointer in the 2nd textbox and
nothing happened.
The information did not flow to the second texbox. Is there a step I am
missing?

Draw the two text boxes. Click in the FIRST text box. Now click the button in
the Text Box toolbar that looks like a chain link (labelled "Create text box
link"). Scroll to the second text box and click in it.
