How do I make a resized image size permanent?

I am resizing images in my Excel document and it has a reset size option
available to me. I want to discard the "extra" saved image data to reduce
the size of my file. How is that accomplished? I have tried reducing image
sizes through the compress option, but there is still a reset to original
size option available...

Not sure if this will work in Excel or not, but in PPT at least, you can
right-click the pix and choose Save as Picture. I usually use PNG, but you
could choose another type in the drop-down box. Save the picture and then
reinsert it using Insert|Picture|From File. Delete the original.
