how do i read, read only documents?

i have recently upgraded to a new computer, and attempted to send a microsoft
word document (resume)to my cd writer. now when i place the disc into my new
computer to update the resume the document opens up but indicates read only,
and doesnt display any of my resume information. please help me..thanks to
all in advance..

Don't try to work with documents on a CD. Copy the file from the CD to your
hard disk and work on it there. All files on a CD are read-only. After
copying the file to your hard drive, right-click, select Properties, clear
the Read Only checkbox.
