how do I recover a file that disappeared

I was using microsoft office word and dictating using IBM Via Voice when
suddening my entire file disappeared after via voice indicated that there was
a problem with its program.

If you saved it then you should be able to recover from the last save.
If you never saved the file then unfortunately you just learned a
valuable lesson about saving. :-(
