How do I save a 2003 database to a 2007 database which has been p.

I have a database which is in 2003 format & is password protected. when I
tried to convert it to 2007 format, it tells me that I should open it
exclusive to remove the password, which I did. When I try to save it in 2007
format it tell me that it can't save it as it is open exclusive. It is
driving me mad!!!!!!
