how do I save a file so that it cannot be edited by others

I want to send a letter to someone by email using MS Word, but I do not want
them to be able to change the contents of the letter. How do I do this
please?????

Can't be done. Nearest you get to security is to create a PDF, but all
you're doing is discouraging them, not preventing them. Think about it: if
they can't stop people counterfeiting currency, what hope do the rest of us
have with plain documents?
