How do I save my current outline format to a template for later u.

I have created an outline specifically formatted the way I like. How can I
save it as a template for later?

File, Save As: Document Template.

As Suzanne said, you can use File>Save As and choose "Document
template". But if you want to easily reuse the actual numbering
scheme, you must first make sure that it is firmly linked to paragraph
styles as described at
