How do I set 'Final' not 'Final Showing Markup' as the default.

In Word 2003, Whenever I open a file it has 'Final Showing Markup' as the
default reviewing choice.

So the first thing I have to do is change it to 'Final', if I foget then I
get all the comments in ballons and the page set up is awry when I print. Not
a problem except that my printer is in another room, and I often print 80
page documents and then have to throw them away.

How do I set 'Final' as the default for opening a document?

You can go to Tools/Options/Security and turn off "Make hidden markup
visible when opening or saving".

Although I wouldn't recommend turning it off since it would be more
annoying to accidentally send out a document with Tracked Changes.

Sorry, I should have said that this was already turned off.

I have three versions of Office 2003 installed on 3 different PCs and they
ALL insist on opening with Final Showing Markup as the default, so it's not
my particular installation. Despite that, I have reinstalled, to no avail.
'Final Showing Markup' will simply not go away - unless I change it to
'Final'every time I open a document.

It's another thing to check when I want to print for publication, and it's
bloody irritating!!
