How do I shut off the review (mark up) on all documents I open?

I just upgraded to a new computer...... Windows XP.

Everytime I open a word document - it shows me the markups or deleted items.
It is defaulted to open every document this way. How do I turn that off
permanently?

The best way to "turn it off" is to accept all changes so there is no markup
to show.
