How do I tranfer the Office application to a new computer?

I just bought a new computer and would like to transfer my Office XP
application to the new computer? What are the steps? Should I reinstall the
original CD and then look at Microsoft for all the updates again? What is
the process to backup the data file so that I can install it on my new
computer?

Assuming a retail version of Office, and not an upgrade version, simply
install on new PC, activate on line or by phone & explain. You will have to
update.
The process of backing up data files depends on where you you stored the
data. By default data files will be in My Documents. Your Email data will
likely be in another location, dependendant on your email app.
If you are able to connect the PCs you can simply copy data.
As it would appear you havent previously backed up data, one has to assume
you like life 'on the edge'
