How do I turn off the default setting in Word that opens my documents in
"Markup" mode and in "Reading Layout" mode? I want my documents to open in
"Print Layout" mode without viewing markup.

To prevent opening in Reading Layout mode, clear the "Allow starting in
Reading Layout" check box on the General tab of Tools | Options.

To prevent showing markup on opening, clear the check box for "Make hidden
markup visible when opening or saving" on the Security tab of Tools |
Options, but note that this is *not* recommended. If you clear this option,
be sure you at least leave "Warn before printing, ..." enabled. This is to
protect you from embarrassment or worse.
