how do I write a rule that moves a message already marked as read?

My university has an imap server and I must use my email
on that server as my primary account. Therefore I set
outlook xp to forward all arriving messages in my imap
inbox to my outlook inbox. The only problem is I can't
leave outlook running on my desktop all day and oftentimes
I have to check my email on other machines using a webmail
feature, essentially going around outlook's back. Any
message I read over webmail rather than through outlook is
marked as read when it is downloaded to the imap folder in
outlook and therefore is not forwarded to my outlook
inbox. I know very little about writing scripts in visual
basic but I was wondering if anyone could give me some
advice on how to resolve this problem
