How do I zoom in on a portion of a jpg in PowerPoint?

I have a document scanned as a jpg. I am using the document as a slide in
PP. I want to "grow" only a portion of the document. Any ideas?

Duplicate the .jpg
Increase its size to the desired look
Use the crop tool to crop out the unneeded portions
Position and animate on
