How do you split the work in hours, among the resource instead of percentage ?

When you assign, multiple resource to a particular task, you go to
Assign Resource (Alt + F10) window and split the work among the resource
in percentage.

For example, if you have a work of 80 Hours, you can split the work
into 60%+40% ratio among the two resource. How do you split the work in
hours, among the resource instead of percentage ?

Thanks

Hi,

If you turn off Effort Driven for a Task (I always have this off by default
(Tools, Options) then you can enter hours against Resource Names, EG: 40h
(without the h 40 is 40% by default).

Otherwise you will need to use the Task Usage View to manually adjust work
share or Window, Split and manually adjust hours in the Task Form.

The assignment percentages are NOT the split of the task's work between
them. The percentages are rate indicators indicating the relationship
between the full-time equivalent work abnd the time it takes. If a resource
is assigned 100% to an 8 man-hours task it will take him 8 hours to do it.
But if he's assunged 50%, what he COULD have done in 8 hours time will
in-fact take him 16 hours.

Hi ks2008,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Right click the unwanted column and select Hide. If you want to keep your
current view, View/More views... select the Resource Sheet on the left of
the dialog and Copy... Give it a useful name and OK. Now hide the columns
you inserted until they're back to the default.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
