The current version of Microsoft Office is Microsoft Office 2003.

A new version of Microsoft Office is due to be out in 2006. Though I'm not
100% sure, I'd say it would more than likely be called Microsoft Office
2006.

So...
At the time of this post, Microsoft Office XP is a little old, but not by
enough to worry about (in my opinion).

The biggest question is what specific Windows version you need to run
Microsoft Office on. You should ask yourself this question because Microsoft
Office XP is the last (and only) version that is compatible with Windows 98,
Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), and
Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 (SP6) or later.

The suite is called Office XP but the individual applications are 2002
versions. I think Office XP was actually released in 2001, rather than
2002, if that helps answer your question.
