How to add a sound option to viewers?

How can I add an option to the PowerPoint Show to allow viewer to turn off
the sound or silence the sound? This would allow the viewer an easy way to
prevent disturbing others near their station from being distrubed.

Aren't there any supplemental tutorials or texts that explain the exercises?

Anyway, typing Meeting Minder in the PPT 2003 Help file turns up this:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011275201033.aspx

"What happened to Meeting Minder in PowerPoint 2003?
"One question you've been asking is "where is the Meeting Minder feature in
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003?" The short answer is that this feature is
no longer available. "

Then there's a bunch of stuff listed under "What are my alternatives?"

Maybe you could add an object for the user to click. The sound would be set
with a trigger animation where clicking that object would stop the audio.

See http://www.echosvoice.com/triggers.htm for getting started with
triggers. Instead of entrance/exit animations, you'll want to use the "sound
actions" animations instead.

Whoops, this was supposed to be posted to a different thread. Apologies.

Ellen Finkelstein published a tutorial about triggering movies recently.
Have a look on her page:
http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/powerpoint_tip_movie_buttons.html, you can
use the same method for sound.

I'm guessing you want the on/off option on every slide?

Heres how:

Insert the sound on the MASTER to play automatically
In custom animation there will be an entry "after previous" > "PLAY"
In custom animation > timing set stop playing after however many slides
AFTER you have done this select the PLAY entry and CHANGE it to "PAUSE"
Lastly add an action button to the master and use it as a trigger for the
pause.

When you run the presentation sound will be off > the button will flip ON /
OFF sound
