Marty:
There a few things you can try. First try and download the updates
individually, since most are security related it's important that you get
them. Try looking for them in the Microsoft Download Center
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en
With regard to your failures, what's the error message you get? Had you been
able to apply update before?
A first step is trying Help -> Detect and Repair on you Office apps to make
sure they are not damaged.
