How to Apply Office XP Admin Update to a Stand Alone PC

Hi,

I need instructions on how to apply the above update for SP1. When I type
the command line parameters I get one of two errors.

1. Invalid Command Line Parameters or
2. The Installation package could not be opened

What am I doing wrong? Does this update work for what I am doing?

Any help would be appreciated. To e-mail direct remove no spam from my

Thank you,

Hi, Bob,

The administrative update is supposed to be applied to an administrative
installation point, not a standalone PC.

Are you trying to update a workstation installation?

I have Office XP installed on my Dell Dimension PC. The standard SP1 and
SP2 will not update. It was suggested I try an administrative update.

Mmm, I don't think they'll work.

Can we try to troubleshoot the SP-1 and SP-2? When you say they won't
update, what are the symptoms? What is your operating system? Did Dell
pre-install Office XP? If so, have you contacted them, because they're
responsible for supporting what they install?

I get a 1328 error. I did call Dell awhile ago, I can't remember they
reason they gave but they won't support it.

I get the "probably been updated my other means" error. But when I open MS
Word or any of the office programs it does not say SP-1 or SP-2.
