How to automate Word from Visual Basic .NET to create a new document

Hello. I have already broke my head and need help, please
I do have a table in Word document(generated automaticaly) from vb.net.
It has 4 rows and 4 columns. I need to merge or something to have only
one column in the first row and 4 columns in the other 3 rows.
Please help me with peace of code to solve this problem.

In VBA, you would do it like this:

Dim myrange As Range
Set myrange = ActiveDocument.Tables(1).Rows(1).Range
myrange.Cells.Merge
