How to Backup all E-Mail Messages to Disk

B

Barry

Outlook 2002

I want to backup my E-Mail messages to a Zip disk.

I saved the files with the .DBX file extension but it
does not seem to backup the messages contained in the
folders.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

If you are making the back-up via the Outlook backup or
export wizard, there is a tick-box where you can
select 'include sub folders' that is commonly overlooked.

Chances are, your messages will not fit on a Zip disk, as they are all
in a file with an *.pst extension, which is probably too large to fit
onto a Zip disk. You're probably better off trying to back up your
..pst file onto a CD.

Also, you cannot save Outlook 2002 messages into a .dbx file. That
extension is used by Outlook Express, not Outlook, and cannot be read,
as is, by Outlook Express.

If you want to transfer messages from Outlook into Outlook Express,
you can import them from Outlook into Outlook Express...HOWEVER, be
aware that both Outlook & Outlook Express have to be on the receiving
computer.

Best regards.
