First, you need to create a basic template..
Open a 'blank' page.. now use the 'line' tool and place a vertical line top
to bottom that essentially splits the page in two parts.. save the document
Use the 'oval' tool to create a circle the same size as the hole in the
template, and place it as close to the equivalent position as one of the
holes on the paper.. save the document
Get a sheet of paper and mark an arrow and the #1 on the bottom edge.. place
it in the printer with the arrow facing up and pointing into the printer..
print what you have done so far..
Compare the printout with one of your door hanger blanks.. you are checking
for register sp place the printed sheet over the blank..
Make adjustments in your document.. save it.. now mark an arrow and the #2
at the other end of the paper and place it in the printer arrow face up and
pointing into the printer.. print off the results.. if you need to make
adjustments again, use the other side of the paper but use #3 and 4..
When you have one circle in the right place and the right size, 'copy' the
circle and paste it in position for the second hanger.. you can use the sane
piece of paper to check register, and even the same numbers..
So now you have a template made up.. now use 'save as' to save as a
template.. when you load this template into Publisher, initially save it as
a Publisher file as opposed to a template.. this prevents the template been
overwritten..
You can now 'insert' text boxes, pictures, clipart, WordArt into your blank
page..
A tip for you.. if you close down the initial template selection window,
this will give you a good amount of room.. in a program such as Publisher,
the space around the actual document is called the 'workspace'.. you can
place text boxes and graphics anywhere on the workspace.. it is a good idea
to assemble all possible graphics that you may want onto the workspace, and
then you can just drag them between the document and workspace as required..
I hope this helps and wish you luck..
