How to create a task that represents a meeting inside MS Project?

I would like to create a task that a number of people have to work on at the
same time. Each person has to contribute an equal amount or hours.
I tried using fixed duration but then one person is assigned 300% to the
task. If I change that back to 100% then the duration is set to 12 hours. If
people are not available the meeting should be delayed until all assignees
are available.

In this case I want to have a task which represents a meeting.

I hope someone can help.

Hi Arjan,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You've hit upon a major weakness in Project - the ability to schedule more
than one resource to work at the same time, like a pilot and his aircraft!
In your case, I think you might be in danger of micro-managing. If it's a
one-off meeting, then just fix a time when everyone's available and get on
with it, accepting there will be a loss of working hours at that time.
After
all, are your Duration estimates that exact that you can't afford to take
some time out for a meeting? I think you'll worry yourself to an early
retirement if you try to incorporate this sort of detail into your project.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick answer. The meeting was just an example I used in my
test project to see how Project is working and you are probably right that I
am in the danger zone concerning microplanning.

Anyway, providing this quick and helpfull answer I am sure you'll read more
from me. :)
